Verb pairs like borrow/lend, come/go, and remind/remember can be tricky for English learners.
对于英语学习者来说，像borrow借/lend贷、come来/go去、remind提醒/remember记忆这样的动词对可能很棘手。
The verbs "remind" and "remember" both involve recalling something.
动词 "remind"和 "remember"都涉及回忆一些事情。
But there is a clear difference in meaning.
但在含义上有明显的不同。
And they have different sentence structures.
而且它们有不同的句子结构。
"Remember" means to keep a person or thing in your mind or to bring a person or thing back to your mind.
"Remember"的意思是把一个人或一件事留在你的脑海里，或者把一个人或一件事带回你的脑海里。
Think of "remember" as the opposite of "forget."
把"remember"看成是"forget"的反义词。
Listen to some examples:
请听下面几个例子：
I just remembered I left the water on.
我刚想起来我没关水龙头。
Remember to bring a lock to store your belongings.
记得带把锁来存放你的物品。
In the first example, notice that "remember" is followed by a clause.
在第一个例子中，注意 "remeber"后面是一个分句。
In the second, it is followed by an infinitive, also known as to + verb.
在第二个例子中，它的后面是一个不定式，也被称为to+动词。
"Remember" can also be followed by a noun that ends in -ing,
"Remember"也可以跟在以-ing结尾的名词后面，
as in "I remember leaving the water on."

Now, let's talk about "remind."
现在，让我们来谈谈 "remind"。
"Remind" means to cause someone else to remember something.
"Remind"的意思是使别人记住某些东西。
In other words, a person can make sure someone else does not forget something.
换句话说，一个人可以确保别人不忘记某事。
Listen to an example:

Can you remind him to buy more cat food?
你能提醒他多买些猫粮吗？
We ran out.

When we use "remind" this way, the verb is followed by an object.
当我们这样使用 "remind"时，动词的后面是一个宾语。
In this case, the object is "him."

Another way we use "remind" is to say that a similarity causes us to think of someone or something.
我们使用 "remind"的另一种方式是说，一种相似性使我们想到某人或某事。
Listen to an example:

That actor reminds me so much of my brother.

They have the same eyes and laugh.

When we use "remind" this way, we always include the word "of."
